Roulette Variations

Roulette Game Varieties

The rules of roulette are quite standard irrespective of the actual version of the game that is being played. The actual variations that one finds within the different varieties of roulette are mostly based on very small and subtle differences. When it comes down to it there really are only two versions of roulette that are played in most online and land based casinos, European roulette and American roulette. Both versions of roulette are actually derivatives of the original roulette game which is still referred to as French roulette, where the modern game originates.

European roulette is actually exactly the same as French roulette, the main difference being that French roulette maintains the strict French traditions with all the names on the table being in the original French. Both the French version of roulette and the European version of roulette feature thirty six numbers and a single green zero, making a total of thirty seven numbers in all.

The American roulette wheel is slightly different to the French and European roulette games. The American roulette wheel features two separate sets of zero numbers, a single zero like in the French and European wheels, and a double zero making the American wheel thirty eight numbers in total. The American roulette wheel therefore has a much higher house advantage than the European version does.
